Gloucester School Games Level 3 Finals

What an amazing day of brilliantly played quicksticks at Cheltenham Boys College. I felt very proud to be there and watch our year six team play hockey with passion and teamwork. Twenty schools qualified from around Gloucestershire all having come in the top four at their level 2 cluster finals so we knew we had tough games ahead of us. With lots of self-belief and determination, we won a difficult first game against Horsley - two goals to one. This just increased our desire to win and we went on to win three games and draw one in our pool coming top of the pool. This qualified us for the cup and a possible medal. The first game in our cup pool was messy playing against a team we would rather not meet again! We lost. With spirits not dampened, we narrowly lost our final game coming a very respectable forth out of twenty schools. Putting this into context, all schools attending the tournament were the top ten percent of quicksticks teams throughout the county. A massive well done to all players and thank you to Mr Ryan for helping throughout the day. Finally, I have to congratulate Eloise for being the top goal scorer within the team. Outstanding!

From my point of view all members of the hockey team played their hardest with the Jacks in defence with amazing help from Jacob and girls scoring the goals. Well done Cirencester Primary - the best team by far! Thank you Mr Archer for taking us there and supporting us throughout this incredible event.

It was amazing how well we all worked as a team and how we showed determination, self-belief, passion and perseverance even if we were losing. Thank you also to Jacob’s dad, Mr Ryan, for assisting Mr Archer during quicksticks. We will definitely carry on playing hockey in the future. It is my new favourite sport which I know Mr Archer will be pleased about. Well done C.P.S!
