The whole school went “story mad” last week! There were story-telling activities throughout the week and on World Book Day classes swapped around to share their stories. In Reception and Years 1 and 2 the children dressed as book characters, shared their favourite books and, in Year 1, there was a “Where’s Wally?” hunt around school. Years 3-6 are becoming accomplished story tellers, making props to help engage their audience and collaborating on designing story covers and blurbs.
At the end of World Book Day we welcomed parents and carers into school to find out about how we support reading across the school, browse the library and share some stories.
The week ended with a visit by children’s author, Rachel Delahaye, who shared her love of stories with KS2 children and gave them some tips on how to develop great writing.
