Attendance

At CPS, we are totally committed to promoting the welfare and learning of your child through regular school attendance.

We know that every day lost to education can have a serious impact on your child’s attainment and overall progress in school. We are therefore fully committed to promoting excellent attendance by fostering a love of school as well as providing an environment and ethos where children feel safe and can build positive relationships with each other.

In order to ensure that all children reach their full potential, we ask that parents ensure that their child attends school regularly and punctually and that holidays in term time are avoided.  It is also important that your child is punctual for school as learning begins right at the start of the school day and consistent lateness is not only detrimental to their progress, but also disrupts the start of the day for the rest of the class.

Our attendance target for the school and for every child is a minimum of 96%. If your child’s attendance falls into the worrying category on the diagram below you will receive a letter offering support in improving your child’s attendance. Please look carefully at how many school days a year your child is missing if their attendance is into the worrying, or serious concern categories. We will be celebrating good attendance by announcing the top three classes with the highest attendance each term and reporting these on both the newsletter and website.

These classes will receive a reward. Please help your child’s class to be on this exclusive list!
