Welcome from our Executive Head teacher

Mrs Wendy Foster

Cirencester Primary School is a school where individuals are valued and helped to achieve their personal best.  Children are supported in becoming confident and independent young people, who work positively together, and are motivated to learn.  All schools have their own distinctive ‘feel’ which makes each one unique. We believe that the ‘special feel’ at Cirencester Primary is not only to do with our sense of belonging to a vibrant and dynamic learning community but to do with our caring and friendly atmosphere.

I am extremely proud to lead our team that is committed to achieving high standards and providing the very best opportunities for the children in our care.  All members of staff, supported by governors, work hard to deliver an engaging curriculum; to prepare children for future education; and to help them acquire the skills and enthusiasm needed to embrace the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.

The excellent start begins in our values based Cherry Trees Nursery and continues through the school with staff providing a happy, supportive and purposeful environment, and a curriculum that excites and stimulates children’s imaginations and creative thinking.   The curriculum is delivered through a thematic and cross-curricular approach which is further enhanced by our focus on Global Learning and Health and Well-being.  We aim to include other events including ‘Big Questions’ to promote enquiry-led learning.  Termly trips and visits, community activities and after-school clubs further add to the opportunities available to children.

When the school was last inspected by Ofsted (July 2015) we were judged to be a ‘good’ school. Continuous school improvement is at the heart of our school and with robust self-evaluation and high standards for all we will make the transition from good to outstanding as our learning journey continues.

Pupils at Cirencester Primary School are happy and they enjoy coming to school. Visitors to our school comment favourably on pupils demonstrating our values of being polite and well mannered, caring for others and being respectful. We are proud to be a values based school.

The best way to find out about our school is to come and visit, to see us in action and meet staff and children. A telephone call to the school office on: 01285 658550 is all that is needed to arrange this.

We look forward to welcoming you to our school, and to a happy and successful partnership with all our new children and families.

Thank you

Wendy Foster

Our Values

Our expectation is for every child to leave our school with a strong set of moral values, an inquisitive mind, high expectations of themselves, self-confidence, tolerance and respect for others, a healthy outlook and a range of valuable and transferable skills.

With this in mind, we work hard to create a safe and inclusive environment which nurtures every child and encourages a sense of belonging as well as a sense of responsibility through caring for others and thinking of others.

We encourage each member of our school community - children, teachers, support teachers, administrative staff, parents, and governors – to work to the best of their ability, to persevere to fulfil their true potential and to be motivated and hard-working both individually and collaboratively.

Core to our values are:

Our Aims

When you visit our vibrant school, you will see happy children who are engrossed in their learning, and who are proud of who they are and what they produce.

If you take the time to talk to them they will gladly share their ambitions as well as their learning and will tell you about the exciting topics that, for them, bring learning to life.

We aim for all children to:

Our Vision

Cirencester Primary School is a well-respected and much-loved primary school that prides itself on being part of the local community in the heart of the South Cotswolds. Our school is vibrant; our children happy, ambitious and genuinely engrossed in their learning.

Our primary aim is to promote and support a healthy outlook for pupils through opportunities to develop physical and emotional health alongside academic rigour.

To ensure all our young people achieve their full potential and leave our care equipped with the skills for their lifelong learning journey we:

  • Focus on human values within positive social relationships
  • Develop a love of learning and a love for learning through an engaging curriculum that encompasses global culture and events
  • Encourage our pupils to be inquisitive, independent, creative and confident
  • Value highly close collaboration with our parents, our community and our cluster of partnership schools

We encourage our pupils to explore a wide variety of pathways, to consider and take responsibility for their own choices and to respect the choices of others. We expect our pupils to strive to be the best they can be whilst leading healthy, fulfilling, purposeful and giving lives.
