In KS1 we use a reading scheme called 'Bug Club' to work alongside your normal home reading books and guided reading in school. We feel as a school that it is important your child reads actual books as well as the ebooks from Bug Club. Therefore if your child reads a book on Bug Club, this can be counted as one of the requirements to read three times a week.
To access Bug Club your child simply needs to use a device that can access the internet and supports FlashPlayer (free downloadable program). The website address is: http://www.bugclub.co.uk/
Your child has an easy to remember Username and Password stuck into their Reading Record and the School ID:g76t is the same for all children in our school.
Bug Club's online reading world helps children to improve their reading skills with exciting eBooks and fun rewards. Children will enjoy visiting their own personalised Bug Club homepage where they can read online books that contain fun, interactive quizzes. A motivating reward system means children can gain Bug Points for completing these quizzes, exchanging points for electronic rewards such as stickers and animations for their homepage.
All children have been using Bug Club at school, so should be confident when using the program at home. However, if you need help at anytime Bug Club online contains a dedicated 'Parents help' button.
We are holding an information evening next term should you have any further questions about the program and how it is used. This should only last around half an hour with some time at the end for questions. More information will follow after the holidays.
